Basil

My favorite herb is Basil. I absolutely love it! I can eat it straight or paired with almost anything. Last weekend I purchased basil plants, they are now planted and placed in my new "herb window". They smell so goooood... Yesterday I made a pasta sauce out of basil, garlic, tomato, olive oil and spices. It turned out great. So tonight I'll probably make the same but with some variation. I'm also planning on making a hummus with basil, see recipe below.


Hummus w/Basil & Tomato
  • 1 small Garlic Clove
  • 2/3 cup Diced Organic Tomatoes
  • 1 can Organic Chickpeas
  • 1/4 cup Tahini
  • 4 tsp Organic Tomato Paste
  • 3 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 3 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 1/4 tsp Cumin
  • 1/4 cup Fresh Basil
  • Sea Salt to taste 
1. Puree garlic in food processor. Add tomatoes, puree. 
2. Add chickpeas, tahini, tomato paste, olive oil, lemon juice, and cumin. Puree until smooth. 
3. Taste and add salt if necessary. Add basil and puree. 
4. Enjoy!
